The amazing art of Découpage

Sharing some of my creative crafts which involve use of Découpage art form.

(Decoupage, which comes from the French word découper (to cut out), originated as a 17th-century French technique for decorating furniture with paper cutouts, however its roots may be found in East Siberian nomadic tomb art.)

For some reason, I was reminded of the scripture lines 'Behold, I make all things new.' (Revelation 21:5), where I felt the transformation of these items was coming through the spirit of God somehow as He is the one who alone can transform anything using us as channelers....

Although I also tried Découpage on other items, as its very fascinating craft form, most of these (pictures below) I did about two years ago and am sharing them here.

1. This was a small coffee table. As I cannot stand light colors (especially white), I had to transform it to darker shade with flowers and painted the legs dark brown...I used Découpage  paper in this case.

2. The following ceramic vases were also changed; I particularly liked how the first two turned out...These were done using Découpage  tissue sheets (which are much delicate to handle than regular paper)

3. The little pumpkin vase was also renewed..(I had two of them)

4. This was a huge planter with option to put a mini planter (that can hold mud and plants) but the plant withered away long time ago so I decided to upscale it as a decorative item and used Découpage  tissue all over (took lots of work) :)

5. This was a bigger coffee table that was also renewed...

6.  The first two were tin containers (they were originally Danish cookies boxes) and the tray was a regular tray used in kitchen. I did not have before photographs but they were all metal based and quite old and bland before the transformation...

Two of my recent pencil sketches......

Sharing few recent sketches (graphite). Both sketches are so close to my heart...

The sketch speak for itself. One of them (first one) was done from a photo of a real person (the actor Sujay Reu who actually played the role of Lord Ram in a TV series and in my view the person indeed is closest to Ram as one can be in way too beautiful looks (with one of the most captivating smile) and inner soul (:))....anyhow, I couldn't exactly copy that actor's photo but what came out was divine in its own way as well, hence the photo is very dear to me...

Regarding the second photo. as its obvious, the face is shrouded, with a gaping wound on the head and light-colored eyes. It was made from a reference of an AI generated photo I found on the internet, as obviously nobody can know this person how he looked, as it is not possible to know the true appearance and Jamaal of one who was the only one to be born in the house of God....The one who is the Beloved....indeed..........

Some of my pencil sketches- part 2

Well, as I resume my blog posting after almost a decade, I could not stop from wanting to share some of my older sketches which I found. Truth be told, I realized, I had shared only sketches of female face, however, I for one, surely have sketched male faces too 😊..

I have added description below each... (For those images which were not sketched from imagination, I have added "not sketched from imagination"..In some cases, I have not provided any description in some cases due to privacy reasons.

(sketched from a real-life photo of mannequins in a shop)

(sketched from a real-life photo, I was intrigued by the shrouds on the figures in both images)

                                           (Sketched from a source)

                                                  (Sketched from imagination 😊)

Art of Fernando Botero- Its different!

Botero, the Colombian artist once said, “In art, as long as you have ideas and think, you are bound to deform nature. Art is deformation."

I was indeed pleasantly startled after I came across one of the renditions of the famous Monalisa, by the famous Colombian artist Botero who is famous for his art style which incorporates inflated human figures (It almost feels that one has put an inflation tube on the canvas and puffed up the objects! :))

Anyhow, I thought of sharing the captivating rendition of The Monalisa by Botero:

P.S. It so happened that I came across Botero's work while I was intrigued by the knowledge that the renowned Hollywood star and Rocky-fame, Sylvester Stallone painted and exhibited in a gallery which also exhibited Botero's work!

Gum-Wrapper Art---- Really!!

Hi,

Art is not confined to any particular medium. This is so true indeed and interestingly, the beauty of art lies in its expression through so many mediums, most of which were not conceived by many people to be able to create art, in the first place. So this brings me to post a picture of a mini-art work i created, just out of the blue, after chewing the gum to my hearts' content. Have a look at this lovely little fish i created :)

Looks more better!:)

It turned out to be appealing and a good use of the silver-colored wrapper of chewing gum which normally lands up in the trash bin. Little did I know that most of the times, what we think is novel and not tried out before, turns out to be already existing.

It so happened that I found online other instances of creating art through such wrappers:

I was really surprised, in part, because at least someone else thought of putting the ordinary wrapper to creative use (although it turns out the fish i created is indeed unique and novel :)).  Do have a look at what is the creative outcome of a simple paper, which many of us discard as being of no use!!
