Art of Fernando Botero- Its different!

Botero, the Colombian artist once said, “In art, as long as you have ideas and think, you are bound to deform nature. Art is deformation."

I was indeed pleasantly startled after I came across one of the renditions of the famous MonaLisa, by the famous Colombian artist Botero who is famous for his art style which incorporates inflated human figures (It almost feels that one has put an inflation tube on the canvas and puffed up the objects! :))

Anyhow, I thought of sharing the captivating rendition of The MonaLisa by Botero:




P.S. It so happened that I came across Botero's work while I was intrigued by the knowledge that the renowned Hollywood star and Rocky-fame, our lovable Sylvester Stallon painted and exhibited in a gallery which also exhibited Botero's work!

Gum-Wrapper Art---- Really!!

Hi,

Art is not confined to any particular medium. This is so true indeed and interestingly, the beauty of art lies in its expression through so many mediums, most of which were not conceived by many people to be able to create art, in the first place. So this brings me to post a picture of a mini-art work i created, just out of the blue, after chewing the gum to my hearts' content. Have a look at this lovely little fish i created :)

It turned out to be appealing and a good use of the silver-colored wrapper of chewing gum which normally lands up in the trash bin. Little did I know that most of the times, what we think is novel and not tried out before,turns out to be already existing. It so happened that I found a person who actually works on creating art through such wrappers. I was really surprised, in part, because, atleast someone else thought of putting the ordinary wrapper to creative use. Sharing the link as well. Do have a look at what is the creative outcome of a simple paper, which many of us discard as being of no use!!

My Collage painting

Hi,
I thought of sharing the collage painting which I had done( and about which I mentioned in my about me section in my blog). I am glad I had a digital picture of that painting which is memorable for me. Hope you like it. Please feel free to drop in your comments.



I would like to state that when I did this work, I did not have the idea of woman liberation exactly in my mind. This interpretation was given by a good friend of mine, when he saw the picture which I had posted on facebook long time back. But yes, I had some idea in my mind while doing it, but it is so true that a piece of art is open to interpretations by the viewer.

Oil Painting live demo by Deborah Ridgley!

Hi all,
I am so glad to be posting again. I would like to share few pics while I had attended a live demonstration of oil painting by a local artist, Deborah Ridgley, which was held at Kenwood Plaza Art Store, Cincy. Infact it was the first time I ever saw oil painting demo from a live model. (well, i gotta know that the model was currently a Fine arts student at DAAP, UC, Ohio). Posting some of pics from the demo. It was a 3 hour long demo and I was really glad to see the painting process and learn.

Acrylics Demonstrated!

Hi,
I thought of sharing few pics I clicked while I had been working on one of my acrylic paintings. I would like to share few pics which show the stages of a painting. I have to admit I painted this piece and gave it away to my close friend for whom I painted it but every time I had this feeling that something was missing from the painting, so I took it away from him and retouched it (should i say :)) and added that tint of life by adding oranges and lilac of sky and correcting it. I hope you enjoy the pictures. I am also planning to submit this piece for the upcoming Clifton Cultural Arts Festival in Clifton in August!





(P.S. I really do not like the way images get uploaded in blogger, so i thought of using the edge of photoshop to give a better view of stages of a painting! hope u like it. The numbers on images denote the steps in order!)

Pastel painting demonstrated-1

Hi,
As promised, I am back to demonstrate steps while a pastel painting takes shape! I though of clicking pictures as my painting progressed. Following is my model for the day! Well, to be frank, this is a really cute snowboy, I had bought from Walgreens store during last Christmas in Cincinnati. This cute belonging has since then enraptured me by its sheer cuteness and I decide to capture its persona in none other than the vibrant pastel painting. You can find the completed painting in my "pastel paintings" section

First, I lay down basic colors and block the background with a warmer shade.

Some of my doodles- Sketches

Hi,
I now realize the art of preservation, in other words the art of keeping memorable works preserved. Yes, luckily, I had kept some sheets of sketches I did in my college days. Today, as I pen my blog post, i am excited to include here some of sketches I did in past years.

FELL FOR PASTEL!

Well, as the title goes, I have to acknowledge, discovering pastel colors and painting using them has been one of the merriest things I could indulge on earth!
As a matter of fact, I discovered pastels myself but little did I know the sheer vibrancy, luminosity and potential of this medium, which is also a favorite medium for plein air artist as well.

Coincidentally, and quite humorously though, I do not own a studio of my own, but I have been able to chalk out a small space for painting in my "Studio" apartment! :) As I began painting, I thought of clicking pictures of my work in progress and so I would like to share with you the steps of my painting as it took shape!
I am really grateful for the great Plaza Art Supplies store in Clifton, Cincinnati, from which I buy most of my art supplies and which is a couple of blocks away from my place!

I would like to share two of my pastel paintings here. Please read my blog posts following this as I shall be demonstrating steps of pastel paintings in progress for some of my paintings!!

Encaustics--A versatile medium of art!

Painting: The Forbidden Fruit (Encaustics)

Hi all,
I am indeed glad to have made a blog ( though I plan to have a personalized webpage for arts in future) through which I can share my journey of art with you. Some months ago, I had the opportunity to attend a workshop on encaustic hosted by artist Ursula Brenner (). I t was the first time I realized that one could actually PAINT using wax! Till now, I knew about candle making using wax, but after I explored the beauty of encaustics, I was overwhelmed with joy and was happy to learn some techniques which were demonstrated by the famous artist. I share with you some of the paintings I completed myself using amazing medium of Encaustics.

P.S. The painting of evening landscape was done using paper and transparent wax. No color was used!

My Experiments with Photoshop 2

Posting yet another slideshow comprising of pictures created using Photoshop. I remember how creative photoshop was and is and how even today, its used for digital painting as well..:) Luckily I havent tried that yer till now, but nevertheless experimented with the several features of photoshop. I just now realized that one of the images in slideshow actually are of the lovely Japanese singer Utada Hikaru! and coincidentally, I am a great fan of hers.

P.S.The name Growel Academy features in few pics was the name of academy from which I learnt basics of photoshop.
Really, a great teacher is so truly cherishable!
